Spotlight on Peru!

Peru is having a moment, and I couldn’t resist experiencing it for myself!

Lima blew me away with its food scene. I knew it was a culinary hotspot, but experiencing it firsthand was something else. Ceviche at La Mar, a mind-blowing dinner at Central—every meal was a highlight. The city itself is a fascinating mix of history and modern energy, and I loved wandering through the colonial streets of Barranco and the historic center.

Cusco sits at 11,000 feet, and trust me, you feel it! But once you adjust, it’s impossible not to fall in love with this city. The cobblestone streets, lively markets, and mix of Inca and Spanish architecture make it a place I could have explored for days. Seeing the massive stone walls of Sacsayhuamán up close made me appreciate just how advanced the Inca civilization was.

The Sacred Valley felt like stepping back in time. Ollantaytambo’s ruins were incredible, and I had the chance to visit a local weaving community, where I watched artisans create beautiful textiles using techniques passed down for generations. This region doesn’t get as much attention as Machu Picchu, but it should—it’s stunning.

Machu Picchu was everything I hoped it would be. I arrived early in the morning, just as the mist was lifting, and seeing the citadel emerge from the clouds was surreal. Pictures don’t do it justice. Whether you hike in or take the train, there’s something special about the journey to get there—it makes the experience even more rewarding.

Peru has so much to offer, whether you’re into food, history, adventure, or all of the above. If you’ve ever thought about going, I can’t recommend it enough!

Let me know if you’re ready to plan your own Peruvian adventure!
