POSTCARDS FROM THAILAND
POSTCARDS FROM THAILAND
It's been a whirlwind season of travel! This past week, I had the chance to experience Thailand from top to bottom, exploring properties, meeting with teams on the ground, and getting into the details so your journey there is nothing short of extraordinary.
I came home completely inspired, with so much to share. Here's a look at some of the places and moments that stayed with me...
Bangkok
(Temples · River · Flower Market)
We listened to the monks chanting at Wat Pho, then climbed into a longtail boat and went down the river past temples and leaning old shophouses. The palace was closed while we were there, a quiet period of national mourning, so we changed course and went to the flower market instead. I am so glad we did. Marigolds and jasmine in every direction, we even learned how to fold a lotus flower! I could have stayed all day. Funny how the unplanned thing ends up being the one you remember.
Chiang Mai
(The Soulful North)
Up north is a true exhale with emerald rice terraces and a mist over everything. It felt a lot like Bali! We did sunrise yoga, wandered a local market and then did a Thai cooking lesson with what we picked up, and even tried a sound healing session (skeptical going in, won over coming out). One afternoon, we went up to Doi Suthep to see the “secret jungle temple” for the evening chants.
The Golden Triangle
(Where Thailand, Laos & Myanmar Meet)
We stayed in a tented camp right in the jungle, where three countries meet. We biked past pineapple plantations and temples. But the morning with the elephants was one of the most special experiences I have ever had. Just watching them splash and roam, completely themselves. We had to don special outfits to look like the elephants' mahouts, so not to startle them!
Koh Samui
(The Island Finale)
We had beach barbecues, watched the fire shows light up the night, and spent evenings wandering the local night markets, eating our way through them, of course. We also snorkeled and visited a local elephant sanctuary. What a perfect ending to a fabulous trip!
If Thailand has been on your radar, I would love to help you put together an itinerary that truly fits your travel style. This is the kind of trip where the details, the right sequence, the right season, the right pace, make all the difference!
